Mauritius is off course one of the top destinations for honeymoons. Known for its powdery white sand, beautiful beaches, turquoise ocean and beautiful green cliffs. No surprise ‘it’s a paradise island’.

Other than lazing on beaches, there are lot to do and explore in Mauritius.

BACKGROUND

The country is home to some of the world's rarest plants and animals, but human habitation and the introduction of non-native species have threatened its indigenous flora and fauna. Due to its volcanic origin, age, isolation, and distinctive terrain, Mauritius is home to a diversity of flora and fauna not sometimes found in such a small area.

CLIMATE

Situated near the Tropic of Capricorn, Mauritius has a tropical climate. There are 2 seasons: a warm humid summer from November to April, with a mean temperature of 24.7 °C (76.5 °F) and a relatively cool dry winter from June to September with a mean temperature of 20.4 °C (68.7 °F).

The environment in Mauritius is usually tropical within the coastal regions with forests within the mountainous areas.

2. Citadel Fort

Capture stunning views as you stand at the citadel fort. Perched on the top of hill, the  spectacular heritage monument is considered as greatest architectural achievements of world history.

The Fort was built to fortify the defense of Port Louis but was never used for that reason. It is now known as a spot for impressive views of the Capital and famous among locals. The Fort offers stunning views of the city and gives a 360 degree view of the city, with the wall made of huge cut stones of basalt rocks.

Fort Adelaide is a very famous spot among locals who often visit it during the weekend for a small break or for jogging as it does have beautiful views for sunrise and sunsets hence we do suggest visiting during the week to avoid a crowd.

The little piece of historical design is bound to impress you, make sure to incorporate in your visit. We suggest including it in your visit to the capital.

3. CHARAMEL WATERFALL

This is one of the must visit attractions in Mauritius, along with its close neighbors the seven colored earth and the Charamel rum distillery. The falls are beautiful flanked by dark volcanic rock and surrounded by lush greenery, including coffee plants and palm salad trees.

You can also trek to the base of Charamel Waterfalls, where you can swim where the water showers you from the heights. The Top of this spot is one of the best photo opportunities in the Island. Visitors can rent a car to navigate the rich landscape.

4. Chamarel Seven Colored Earth Geopark

A 2-min drive from Charamel waterfall. These colourful sand dunes were eatablished thousands of years past from volcanic activity leading to multiple layers of red, green, blue, brown, violet, purple and yellow. Better to visit during day time, as these colors are more vivid on a bright sunny day. 

It will not take much time to explore the park and it is not so big. There is a small tortoise park where you can see large sized tortoise.

5. Bois Cheri Tea Plantations:

Le Domaine de Bois Chéri consists of extensive and beautiful- lush grounds. This is country's biggest Tea producer.  It offers a charming hilltop setting with panoramic and breath-taking views of the south coast of the island.

If you’re a tea enthusiast, take a guided tour through the tea plantation. There is a terrace restaurant- it offers stunning views of inland Mauritius and an extensive variety of teas on the menu.

Ganga Talao (commonly known as Grand Bassin) is a crater lake situated in a secluded mountain area in the district of Savanne, deep in the heart of Mauritius.

Situated close to Bois Cheri, the Ganga Talao Temple in Mauritius, otherwise called as the Grand Bassin temple, is observed to be one amongst sacred temples within the country. The temple stands on a crater, settled around 550 meters higher than sea level.

A very calm and peaceful place. The cool calm at the hill top, the regular chanting resonating through the surrounding and smell of the incense sticks in the air.
